I am currently working at the Imperial College of Science & Medicine as an IT analyst. This role requires the Support of a Windows NT4.0 network, the installation and Hardware support of 400+ PC's in the Administration department, and the Support, and operation, of VMS VAX cluster's used for the administration finance, payroll, and registry systems.

Before this, I was employed with Pink Elephant DCMS, a company who provide IT support and consulting staff, were I was placed at British Gas PLC as a computer operator. Although I did learn a great deal at British Gas, particularly as concerns the running of a large IT department, I knew early on that I wanted to work with PC's and the internet specifically. While at British Gas I was trained on the 4 platforms which are used for the business gas systems. These were Windows 95, Windows NT4.0, Unix, VMS.

The reason for my move from Pink Elephant to Imperial college was due to the fact that I wanted to be involved with PC's and networks, as opposed to VAX/Mainframe work. I am enjoying work at Imperial. However, I have become increasingly interested in web developement and the technology that encompasses. For this reason I am now actively seeking work in this field. At Imperial I am given full access to the internet and am using this freedom to to learn from on-line resources about web developement and web technology.

Previous to my employment history I completed an MSc in Computing at the University of North London. This course gave me a solid base in the technologies and scope within the IT sector, and has proved to be an invaluable start to my career in IT. As I have stated I am now very keen to shift my career into web developement.
